RIP Papa

Just one day upon his return from employment in Canada, and on Thanksgiving morning, Jaylan lost his paternal grandfather, James Herbert Evans, 77, of Castalia, North Carolina. It was a difficult Holiday this year, but Jaylan is relieved to know his papa is out of pain, enjoying the beauty of after life with our King, and looking after him in an ascended spiritual realm: heaven. Jaylan reflects on his time on Earth with his papa in a recent Instagram post.

Family Visits Silver Falls

Jaylan was so thrilled his family was able to come and check out a day in his life as a screen actor on Walter Boys. His mother and four siblings visited him in Calgary, spent a day on set meeting his cast and crew, and traveled to Banff to enjoy the beautiful sight-seeing Alberta has to offer. “It was their first time in Canada and to share this moment in my journey with them is something I’ll forever cherish. I’m so thankful to my wonderful cast-mates and crew, especially Jill, our first AD, for welcoming them with open arms. They are so thankful and raved of their experience!”

A Break From New York

Though the life of a working actor calls for being a nomad, frequently in and out of cities, with several homes scattered around the world, Jaylan has just reached his three-year milestone as a NY resident. This month, Jaylan will be leaving NY for the foreseeable future, with hopes to return as soon as possible. These recent years have consisted of three apartments in uptown Manhattan, two agencies, working retail at Buck Mason Nolita, catering events, plenty of nights out, hundreds of friends, good food and laughs, a life-changing phone call with his agents and manager, and a plethora more. He states it takes tremendous strength adjusting to one of the most expensive, dangerous, quick-paced cities in the world; and though challenging, he wouldn’t have it any other way, and believes New York’s magic is and will always be there. He is grateful for his time here thus far, and cannot wait to return refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for NY 2.0. Bigger and better.

Let’s do A Red Carpet!

Jaylan attends the NY Premiere of THE MINISTRY OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE with friend and costar, Ashby Gentry. Jaylan would like to thank Ashby for extending the invite and a moment to spend more time together, as well as up-and-coming fashion designer, Mashell Goodluck, for styling them in pieces from his SS21 collection for the carpet.
Third and Final Season ✨

All episodes of SPIRIT RANGERS SEASON 3 are now streaming globally on Netflix. “This was my first job post-grad, beginning in the fall of 2020, and closing that era today is so bittersweet. I learned and grew so much on this show. It was my first contract with Netflix, the job that gave me my SAG card, and a sacred experience getting to work with Native American artists both on-screen and off. To know that I’ll always have this to look back on my start, for my future kids to watch and hear daddy’s voice as a (hopefully their favorite) cartoon character… it doesn’t get better than this. God did magic with this one. And I’m eternally grateful. Thank you, Karissa, I love you endlessly.”

Behind The Blinds

Jaylan is featured in a Behind the Blinds digital exclusive with costar, Corey Fogelmanis for their work as Skylar Summerhill and Nathan Walter, respectively, in the young adult romantic drama series, MY LIFE WITH THE WALTER BOYS. Jaylan states he is grateful for the opportunity to highlight young queer love, and hopefully, be a safe haven for and inspire the LBG youth tuning into the show. “My time on Walter Boys is for the boys. I am taking reigns and making this into what I needed throughout my high school years. I needed a Skythan. To connect and see myself represented. So, this is for the younger me, and alike boys going through similar experiences today, right now, especially black and indigenous individuals living in the south. And I’m so fortunate for the opportunity. Not only are they needed, but our stories deserve to be told.” You can stream all episodes of The Walter Boys right now, only on Netflix.
Meeting Matt Bomer

Jaylan met Matt Bomer at the FELLOW TRAVELERS FYC Screening in NY. “Beautiful and so kind,” says Jaylan. “Crazy to think I auditioned for this project. Would have loved to work with him and Jonathan. I love them so much. But I’m looking forward to it one day, whenever that moment aligns and is in the cards.”
